Prachanda’s warning to former king of Nepal and royalist supporters: Do not consider the generosity of the republic as compulsion.
CPN Maoist Center President Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has warned former king Gyanendra Shah and royalist supporters not to consider Nepal’s peace process and the generosity and originality of the republic as compulsion.
Addressing the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, he advised not to underestimate Nepal’s peace process and the originality of the republic by forgetting how dictatorial kings ended in different countries of the world.
He said, “Not only Nepal’s peace process, the history of the republic is also very original and liberal. There are many examples in the history of the world’s republics written with the blood of monarchy. But Nepal became an exception to this. We all know very well that this was a proof of our originality and generosity. Forget about violence on the former royal family, the history of the republic in Nepal was written by giving them a place to live for the time being, not even imposing exile. We should not forget this. If someone has the illusion that this history was a compulsion of the revolution, then it will be a very big illusion. If this generosity is considered a weakness, then it can come out in a very harsh form, everyone needs to understand this.”
Prachanda said that the republic was brought by making arrangements to keep the former king safely in the country, but dreams are being seen of wielding the sword of regression and counter-revolution on the achievements obtained after a long struggle.
He further said, “Attempts are being made to reverse all the achievements. Now we have a special situation where we have to fight together against the wrong activities of the government on one hand and against the regressive conspiracies on the other. The government’s indiscretion and bad actions are causing disillusionment towards the system itself. There was not so much dissatisfaction till 8 months ago. Maitighar Mandala was also almost emptying. But now there is a movement everywhere.”
Prachanda spoke of disappointment towards the system due to the functioning of the government and commented that garbage is being dumped in the republic.
