“Chhaava Roars Past Gadar 2, Eyes Rs 700 Crore as 2025’s Lone Blockbuster
It’s been an incredible run for Chhaava, the Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna starrer that’s proving to be 2025’s biggest blockbuster so far. Even in its fourth week, the film is showing no signs of slowing down, and with the Telugu version hitting theaters on March 7, it’s only added more fuel to its box office fire. On its fourth Sunday, Chhaava faced a slight dip in collections in India—probably because of the Champions Trophy 2025 final between India and New Zealand grabbing everyone’s attention—but it still managed to pull in a solid Rs 11.5 crores. The Hindi version brought in Rs 9 crores, while the Telugu dubbed release added Rs 2.5 crores to the tally.
So where does that leave Chhaava? In India, its nett collection has climbed to an impressive Rs 520.55 crores, with the Hindi version alone accounting for Rs 512.3 crores. The Telugu version, meanwhile, kicked off with a strong opening weekend of Rs 8.25 crores. Add in taxes and everything else, and the film’s gross collection in India now stands at Rs 607.6 crores. But the real headline is its worldwide performance—Chhaava has raced to Rs 698 crores globally, including Rs 85 crores from overseas markets. That’s enough to leave Sultan (Rs 614 crores) and Gadar 2 (Rs 691 crores) in the dust, officially making it a bigger hit than both.
For Vicky Kaushal, this is now his highest-grossing film ever. For Rashmika Mandanna, it’s her second biggest after Pushpa 2: The Rule. Speaking of Rashmika, her last three releases—Animal, Pushpa 2, and now Chhaava—have collectively smashed past the Rs 3,000 crore mark worldwide. Talk about a hot streak!
Digging into the details, Chhaava’s theater occupancy on Sunday tells an interesting story. The Hindi version had an overall occupancy of 18.90%, with Chennai leading the pack at 38% across 33 shows. Pune wasn’t far behind with 36.25% across a whopping 511 shows. Mumbai saw 26.75% with 965 shows, while Delhi lagged a bit at 12.50% despite 1,070 screenings—maybe the cricket fever hit harder there. On the Telugu side, things looked even better, with an overall occupancy of 28.79%. Mahbubnagar topped the charts at 53.50% with just 4 shows, while Kakinada hit 46% with 14 shows. Hyderabad, with 313 shows, clocked in at 30.75%. All told, the Telugu version is running across 710 screens in South India and holding strong.
With Chhaava inching closer to the Rs 700 crore mark worldwide, it’s clear this film isn’t just a hit—it’s a juggernaut. And with numbers like these, it’s safe to say Vicky and Rashmika have delivered something audiences can’t get enough of.
