PCB Clarifies Missing Indian Flag in Karachi, Says ICC Directive Behind the Decision”

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has clarified the absence of the Indian flag at Karachi’s National Stadium ahead of the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. The issue caught attention after a viral video showed flags of all the competing countries flying except India. While some speculated that this omission was a retaliatory action by the PCB, the board clarified that the decision was taken by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The PCB confirmed that the ICC had directed that only four flags be displayed on match days: those of the ICC (event authority), the PCB (event host) and the two teams competing on that particular day. As a result, India’s flag will not be seen at three Pakistani venues (Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi) as India will not play in Karachi, where the flag was reported missing. Both India and Pakistan are in Group A for the Champions Trophy, along with New Zealand and Bangladesh. The tournament will begin on February 19 with the opening match between Pakistan and New Zealand. India’s matches will take place in Dubai, as the team could not get clearance to travel to Pakistan.
