Tejashwi Yadav Takes Fresh Jibe at Nitish Kumar Ahead of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025
With the Bihar Assembly Elections just months away, political tensions are heating up in the state as leaders trade sharp remarks. On Wednesday, RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav once again targeted Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during an address to party workers in Patna. Tejashwi didn’t hold back, calling for a change in leadership and taking a dig at Nitish’s age.
“We don’t want an incompetent government anymore,” Tejashwi declared. “The retirement age is 60. Do you want a 75-year-old Chief Minister?” He urged the crowd to think about Bihar’s future, saying it’s time to move forward with a “new vehicle” rather than an “old, worn-out one.” Playing on this metaphor, he asked, “If a vehicle runs for 15 years, doesn’t it turn into a junker? Even the government doesn’t allow such old vehicles on the road. Why? Because they pollute the environment.”
Tejashwi also highlighted Bihar’s young population, pointing out that 58% of the state’s residents are around 25 years old. “For 20 years, Nitish has been leading them. If you keep sowing the same seed in the same field for two decades, both the crop and the land will suffer,” he remarked, drawing loud cheers from the gathering.
Elections on the Horizon
The Bihar Assembly Elections are slated to take place later this year, and the opposition is leaving no stone unturned to challenge Nitish Kumar’s long-standing leadership. Just a day earlier, RJD had launched a poster campaign against the Chief Minister. The posters read, “We don’t want an old CM like Nitish. It’s the era of the youth… we need young leaders.” Featuring Nitish’s pictures, the campaign portrayed Tejashwi as the fresh face Bihar needs.
Targeting Modi and Shah Too
Amid the ongoing budget session of the Bihar Assembly, RJD organized a “Yuva Choupal” (Youth Forum) on Wednesday, where the attack wasn’t limited to Nitish. Posters and speeches took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah as well. “The country and the state no longer need elderly leaders. This is the time for youth, and Bihar and India deserve young leadership,” the posters proclaimed, with RJD workers clearly rallying behind Tejashwi Yadav as their champion.
As the election season approaches, the war of words and strategies is only expected to intensify in Bihar’s political landscape.
