“Nitin Gadkari Stands Firm: Won’t Compromise Principles for Politics or Power”

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has once again made headlines with his straightforward style. He recently stated that he practices politics on his own terms and does not discriminate based on religion or caste. He made these remarks during a convocation ceremony at a minority institution in his home region. Gadkari emphasized that even if sticking to his principles costs him his ministerial position or leads to an election defeat, he will not stray from his chosen path.

Speaking at the event, Gadkari said he avoids bringing religion or caste into public discourse, as he believes serving society should be the top priority. In a lighthearted tone, he quipped, “Whoever talks about caste, I’ll give them a kick!” He recalled using this line during last year’s election campaign and reiterated it to underline his stance. His point was clear: he won’t compromise his values for the sake of votes.

He also shared that some friends advised him against making such statements, but Gadkari remained firm. “I’ve decided to work my way,” he said. “If it means losing an election or not getting a ministerial post, it doesn’t bother me.” For him, staying true to his principles is non-negotiable, even while navigating the complexities of politics.

Reflecting on a past decision, Gadkari mentioned that when he was a member of the Legislative Council, he granted permission to the Anjuman-e-Islam institution to start an engineering college. He reasoned that this community needed it the most. “If more engineers, IPS, and IAS officers emerge from the Muslim community, it will benefit society as a whole,” he said. Citing the example of former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, he highlighted how education can transform lives.

He pointed out that today, thousands of students have graduated as engineers from this institution. Had they not received educational opportunities, their lives might have been very different. Gadkari stressed that education is a powerful tool capable of uplifting not just individuals but entire communities. His words reflect his commitment to both his principles and the development of every section of society.
