“John Lithgow in Final Talks to Play Albus Dumbledore in HBO’s *Harry Potter* Reboot”

The highly anticipated Harry Potter reboot at HBO seems to have found its Albus Dumbledore. Reports from Deadline suggest that John Lithgow, the six-time Emmy-winning actor, is in the final stages of negotiations to portray the iconic Hogwarts headmaster. Although HBO has not confirmed the casting, a spokesperson for the network mentioned that they would only release official details once the deals are finalized, acknowledging the rumors swirling around the high-profile series.

The upcoming Harry Potter series will retell the story of J.K. Rowling’s seven books with an entirely new cast. Each season is expected to cover one book, with the show planned to run for seven seasons over a 9-10 year period. The series is being led by writer/showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod, but the launch date remains unannounced.

The original Harry Potter books, released between 1997 and 2007, became a global phenomenon, selling over 600 million copies and inspiring eight blockbuster films. The films, which grossed $7.7 billion worldwide, featured Richard Harris as Dumbledore in the first two movies, followed by Michael Gambon in the role after Harris’s passing. Fans are now eagerly discussing the potential of John Lithgow stepping into the legendary character’s shoes, with some labeling the casting choice as bold and others as unexpected.

With the magic of the Wizarding World returning to screens, all eyes are now on HBO’s reboot, as fans await more updates and official confirmations.
