“Hitman” Rohit Sharma Crowned New Sixer King of ODI Cricket!
Ranchi, India: Indian batting maestro Rohit Sharma has cemented his legacy as the undisputed “Sixer King” of One Day International (ODI) cricket, surpassing the long-standing world record held by Pakistan’s legendary all-rounder, Shahid Afridi.
The historic moment arrived during the first ODI of the series against South Africa in Ranchi on Sunday, November 30, 2025. The 38-year-old opener, affectionately known as the ‘Hitman,’ began the match needing just three maximums to claim the top spot.

Rohit, opening the innings, unleashed his characteristic power and elegance en route to a fluent half-century (57 off 51 balls).

He equalled Afridi’s tally of 351 sixes by launching a towering slog-sweep off South African spinner Prenelan Subrayen.

The record-breaking 352nd six came off a magnificent trademark pull shot against pacer Marco Jansen, sending the ball sailing over the deep fine leg boundary and sparking rapturous applause from the capacity crowd.
A Record of Efficiency
What makes the achievement truly remarkable is the efficiency with which Rohit scaled the summit. He achieved the incredible feat of 352 ODI sixes in just 269 innings, a staggering 100 fewer innings than Shahid Afridi (369 innings).
