Bajaj Auto Deals a Major Blow to OLA, Becomes India’s Number 1 Two-Wheeler Electric Company
In February 2025, Bajaj Auto surpassed OLA Electric to take the top spot in the two-wheeler electric segment, delivering a significant blow to OLA’s previous number-one position. With its popular electric scooter, Chetak, Bajaj Auto has now become a leading player in this segment.
A Shift in the Market
According to a report by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), Bajaj sold 21,389 units in February, marking a massive year-on-year growth of 81.82%. Meanwhile, OLA Electric dropped to the fourth position, while TVS Motor and Ather Energy claimed the second and third spots, respectively.
TVS and Ather’s Strong Growth
TVS Motor recorded 18,762 units in sales, despite a month-on-month decline. However, the year-on-year growth of 28.16% remains impressive. Ather Energy also showed strong performance, crossing the 10,000 units mark and securing the third position.
OLA’s Declining Dominance
OLA Electric, which was previously number one in this segment, slipped to the fourth spot in February. This shift highlights the growing competition from Bajaj, TVS, and Ather. Although OLA Electric’s sales declined, it still remains a strong contender in the market.
The Road Ahead
Bajaj credits its success to the growing popularity of Chetak, while TVS and Ather maintain strong positions with consistent growth. This shift indicates that the competition in the Indian electric two-wheeler market is likely to become even more intense in the coming months.
Conclusion
Bajaj Auto has now claimed the number one spot in the Indian two-wheeler electric segment, overtaking OLA, signaling a shift in the market dynamics. This change suggests that competition among electric vehicle manufacturers in India will continue to heat up in the future.
